When one considers the origin of UFOlogy, a host of questions define the composition of what develops. Immediately for most, even before "when did we first identify there to be anything unidentifiable?" comes "... what is even flying them?"... It's a shake down from the bottom up, of not just what we know, but how we know what we know, and consequently an assessment of just what could be trusted in a landscape begging ever the more doubt in lieu of new development.

In this evolving field however, it isn't just new information being digested poorly that proves problematic. In equivalence, it is the old information vanishing

The bad news thereof unfortunately, is that a reveal of what one can't naturally fathom, is nigh impossible to assimilate into our evolving worldview without concurrent personal experience. Regardless of the source... but what makes this topic all the more difficult, stems from the already overwhelming, and yet growing, catalog of firsthand experiences. While most are anecdotal, they hail assimilarly, and multitudinous, from across the globe. UFOs (more recently rebranded UAP or unidentified anomalous phenomenon) haunt the mind with more urgency than other comparably improbable presentations, because quite simply, its far too probable that many things are going on... whether they are ET or otherwise, it all begs some explanation.

There is nothing speculative about this... UAP are real and this write up is but one in a series, next to far superior literature, that reveal why that which was once considered science fiction just decades prior, is now more appropriately dubbed science defying actuality. That statement is made with extraordinary sympathies for those that must meet such revelation with skepticism... it was, after all, not until a personal contact experience that I myself, scribing these very words, was able to get my head around just how actual all this is.

The good news now though.. the cumulative testimonials, governmental investment, vested agencies, innumerable leaks, and unrelenting waves of contact experiences, provide enough telling clues to uncover significant, reliable, historia, with which to surmise a fairly educated perspective. Depicting the depth of this phenomenon to be far above and beyond the forward facing idea of a potential ET craft that zigged when they should have zagged in Roswell, back in 1947... Which is still standing to most as the quintessential point when advanced technologies, of the ilk in question, bubbled up the public surface... but by now, in 2025, there has been a long enough parade of very capable researchers having composited their best guesses to the contrary of what had been commonly accepted. Some of whom have paid dearly for as much.... and we now, I contend, have a civic duty to those who have made it possible for us to navigate the impossible, as we continue the thankless search for the truth purportedly "still out there".

And yet, even across the span of 80 years, no consensus of any light and easy cliff notes version of "the truth" had ever been decided upon. This Preface isn't padding for a word count... the topic is that divisive and complex. The epistemic dimension of UFOlogy is indivisible from any hope of comprehension because the real "truth" is, insofar as I can tell, there has been a LOT of lying.

If I could convey one thing in a TLDR for those ill inclined to make it through the paragraphs to follow... it would be :

"Don't worry folks, this is an enchanted world in which other intelligence as real as any amongst us are absolutely here... and every single other facet of the fact has effectually been obscured, if not blatantly mishandled, in all out effort to dissuade any from learning as much with any degree of assured certainty.. even if it meant harming innocent peoples along the way."

So without mincing any more words on the matters handicaps, pitfalls, and in-built riddles, let's dive right into the origin of this particular unknowable as we can, shall we? The point, before moving on... this examination is more about assessing data points than it is coming to conclusions. We are not aiming for conclusive answers in these write ups because just above is the only one of those I could comfortably stand behind with certainty. No, what we aim for, is a compilation that stands on it's own as an education on what remains, by my measure, as the single greatest mystery of modernity. Welcome to the stuff nightmares themselves run from, as this friends, is zenith of wild at the summit of absurdity, where the fantastical becomes animate.

As of 1947, the imagination was captivated by flying saucers and little green men, proper. It only makes sense to dance backwards from there.. take a little moonwalk with me, if you will, pun entirely intended..... and after this essay, we'll likely pick things back up from the 20th century onward, decade by decade.

**PLEASE NOTE: a HUGE element of understanding UFOlogy is also having a working knowledge of the peoples that comprised it as a *field* of growing formality. Those aforementioned personalities will be compiled here for references sake but this particular entry, as a kick off, will not be focused in that capacity. A concurrent article that is updated with each entry will be released in tow with upcoming entries.**

So in the years leading up to the Roswell event, a lot happened that colored the lens that crash and its constituents, ET or otherwise, would be perceived through. From 45 to 47, the most prominent voices of, and adjacent to, the spiritualist movement would go silent. World War 2 would end in horrific tragedy, but not before the Foo Fighters would make their presence known. The Ghost Rockets, having caught the attention of global intelligence already had everyone's eyes on the sky and if all that wasn't enough, there is plenty more... I'd like to point out however, just how quiet the terms "Foo Fighters" and "Ghost Rockets" were kept for decades that followed.

Operation High Jump was also a relatively big deal at that time. It would see a bold, record breaking, Admiral's career forever damaged when he came back from the south pole assured there was an advanced, non human, concern that could travel from pole to pole with ease. The powers that be would fall into dispute as to how to handle Admiral Byrd's claims, with the only proponent of going public, Secretary of Defense James Forrestal, ending up taking a swan dive out a window to meet his end.

Byrd's claims would go down in history as another case of "DEBUNKED" but for a variety of reasons (that could stand on its own as another article and may) there is an equally convincing trajectory that suggests the official "debunk" as bogus.

Operation Paper Clip, ushering in the most brilliant of foreign minds to work on the mounting cold war challenges facing the US, alongside the great space race.. also claiming the unbelievable advances in aerospace accomplished by the Germans were due to help from above. A statement made by Von Braun himself as he took the reigns of leadership in the then newly formed NASA.

All against a backdrop of native indigenous American peoples who professed in congruent oral traditions that, not only was a more advanced peoples in America prior to they, but they accredit them for their own survival and education in many instances. A strong case for the natives claims, in the early 20th century, was local to Mt. Shasta, north of California, where the Yurok people's very own (a woman named Lucy Thompson) wrote about the sophisticated white beings who settled across the entire continent long before her people. They were known amongst her tribe as the "Wa-gas". Alongside her account, the earliest peoples to settle around the Grand Canyon also report non human beings referrentially as "The Ant People". The Pocono Indians of the northeastern tri-state area speak of "The Sky People". In each case, these beings were expressly physical and while reserved in their dealings with the natives, did openly teach and assist in the achievement of a more civilized way of life. The natives would hold strong that the priorly sacred sites associated with these beings were to never be disrupted by the encroaching government (an arrangement honored to this day).

One particularly compelling element of those 19th and 20th century native anecdotes of what came before..was the ability for all of these non human beings to seemingly traverse and retreat effortlessly, unto evirons that would evidentially prove inaccessible by any conventional means. Was it into the depths of the Earth that these advanced intelligent races would dissappear to? The sea?.. The sky!?... Or are there yet still more potential hiding places that go unnamed?

And this much only sets the table for the US but make no mistake, while America has maintained significantly more public interest, the phenomenonal has always been a global affair. UFOs proper, other phenomenonology withstanding, brings to light a crash retrieval around 1933 in Magenta Italy, with a mysterious vehicle that would ultimately make the rounds from Mussolini, to having been housed at the Vatican, before the Americans could get their hands on it... but nonetheless, from Alaska (which actually had MULTIPLE MONTHLY unidentified bogey reports throughout the entirety of 1947 as was reported by Lt. Wendelle Stevens) to the poles, to South America where some of the most rich and profound anecdotes hail from, these presentations were and are EVERYWHERE. Japan in fact, to present day, has an entire city dedicated to the unknown anomalies and the craft's occupants.

So we clearly need to go back even further before we scratch the surface here.

------

Airships, in the very late 1800s, could be contended as having been foreshadowing for the century to come. It certainly would be seen as such in hindsight, from the vantage point of particular governmental agencies whose attention was immediately arrested by the skyward absurdity. The airships were unlike any UFOs as is both imagined and conveyed by the contemporary zeitgeist. Flying houses. Wooden structures. Ships that would appear more appropriate as seaward vessels than anything airborne or sky bound and yet, without dispute, these strange flying contraptions wouldn't just be seen.. they would land and the occupants would even converse with the astonished locals.

As the lore goes, contended by Nick Redfern in is prolific writing "The Final Event : and the Secret Government Group of Demonic UFOs and the Afterlife" the rise of the Colin's Elite would be antagonized by a growing number of these airships accounts. The situation would reach a fever pitch under the most bizarre of circumstances. One of the pilots who came down from his flying house with a ladder, as though this were some cartoon, insisting an inventor in New York was then perfecting the patents on this new flying tech, bound for Mars from whence others had come from directly no less, had caught governmental attention!.. Naturally, a representative by way of a patent lawyer of renown, sporting the name of Colin's, would travel the countryside to meet and verify this claim. His return would cement the notion that something far more complex than even flying houses was at work. And it very well may not have been human.

Mr. Colin's would indeed locate the named inventor. But something was wrong for this man resided in squalor. Impoverished but creative, the man in question claimed that, curiously, he had been dreaming about airships and drawing them. He had no idea why these incredibly vivid dreams would come to him in the night, but he could offer no more insight into the presentations than could be discerned from his imaginative sketch work. That however, would not be what Colin's would report.. not immediately at least. For when Colin's first reported in on his appointment, he spoke at length about the fanciful and groundbreaking inventions of this genius. He would talk on how a space fairing, trailblazing, starward era for humanity was just around the bend. That was, until the next day when he would return to facilitate his report again, discovering he had no recollection of the prior days events. It was concluded that Mr. Colin's had been puppeted and in trance so fully, so as to be completely unable to drum up even the faintest of recall.

Now, all that having come to pass but a few short decades post the hanging of witches, propagated a very Christian posture facing the craft craze. It was compounded by centuries of suspecting that Satan's kingdom was the realm of the air, a biblically bore concept. A belief was hatched of Colin's having been bewitched by employing dark arts that they (the elites), believed it was their God given charge to stand against. This would forever and on justify their elevation above classification and oversight..... but might such have simply been the retro-imaginatively contrived concept of a fervent student of the saucers? Well perhaps... but as of 2024, even a former director of an alphabet agency, we all know and love, would come out as having had a chilling meeting with one such group.

------

To continue from here would be to exhaustively echo a trend that I imagine most reading would have picked up on by this paragraph. Which is that the phenomenonal presentations that have remained in step with the human families progress has been mercurial in nature. Somewhat watery and not quite fixed. Harboring a great deal in common with precisely what we call UAPs today, UFOs of yesteryear, saucers of decades prior, all while concurrently sympathetic to the expectations of they whom would be playing the roles of observers... what does this consistent flux to conform to the minds of whomever may behold them, actually suggest about the phenomenon in question?

Naval records wouldn't be classified until well into the 20th century, but in 18th and 19th, as humanity set out to understand the Gaian mother Earth's blue infinity, the ocean, would detail multiple run-ins with sideways ferris wheels. Yes, ferris wheels, in the middle of the ocean that would emit luminescence beneath the waves and at times, rise upward and fully out of the water and into the sky. This was amongst other "metallic sea monster" reports with less corroboration, but nonetheless intriguing.

1639 would see a great light witnessed in Puritan Massachusetts. 1566 and 1561contributed broadsheet depictions, from Switzerland to Germany respectively, of star trek battles amidst the clouds in broad daylight. Church commissioned artworks, responsible for some of the greatest (or certainly the largest) creative depictions in all the wide world over, sees artists leaving breadcrumbs throughout European history of the skyward reality. Extending all the way to the good book's beginnings, when the Bible would be concretized, it would be so with tales of Angels and heavenly hosts that if seen today would absolutely qualify.

So not to bum rush through a few thousand years of history but while time marches on... or backwards in our case.. I think the point is abundantly clear. Whatever it is that accounts for UFOs has been with us. That isn't to say there are not some very compelling cases that reach a ways back, some of which I would much like to explore in detail, such as how the phenomenon in question may have been in full force to implicating ends in terms of the black death... it becomes a book, at a point beyond blog, and that forewarning of exhaustion but a few short paragraphs now past becomes a reality. So let's go even further back to ancient Egypt.
