Meaning :
This is all about our conscious and subconscious, impregnating our unconscious, with what is to make its way from the quantum to the actual.
If we break that down into what it looks like in modernity, it is of course quite different than in ages past, but the dynamic is the same... We consciously have access to all forms of thought (Matrix of the Mind), the subconscious permits one of those facets through the gate (Potentiator), and the unconscious nurtures, cultures, organizes, and incubates.... Thematically speaking, this is very much the card of the womb energy, and veiling, without neglecting the role of the divine mother.
Challenges, in life, can catalyze the mind and most certainly, that is where many of us go to when we try to imagine catalysts in a general way, but this card tells us there are so many more dimensions to it. Challenges are only one form of catalyst, while so many other brands are ripe for recognition, but the congruity that makes them catalytic (and worthy of reflection, such as the tarot provides impetus for) is the masculine and feminine energetic dynamic thereof.
In other words, every single step we take in life can either be taken exactly as the last or in a completely new way. Depending on the context of the next step, a new way than ever before may be desirable. The new way requires this marriage of the concious and subconscious, that everything beyond is organized in the unconscious, for something entirely new. What does entirely new mean? It means it didn't exist as an accessible thought (thing) to the matrix of the mind or contemporary Magician, the concious mind is changed as a result thereof. The true form of this newness had not yet been fully realized, priorly. We are talking about the astral sex that literally results in harnessing the womb.
It is why the Artist requires the Muse. It is why the shared experience is such an integral portion of metaphysical understanding. And it deeply related to the very personal truths in one's individuated incarnative experience.
